Is there anything in Paris more unique about Paris than the Eiffel Tower? Thanks to its monumental size, the Eiffel Tower can be seen from almost every corner of the city, usually outstanding amongst the quintessential rooftops of Paris. The good news is that some of Paris’ top luxury hotels, well known for their great facilities and amazing interiors, come also with the best views of Eiffel Tower, especially beautiful during its night show. So if you are planning a romantic weekend in Paris and you can afford it, why not treating yourself with the pleasure of waking up with an amazing Eiffel Tower balcony view? Rowboat Ride at Château de Versailles

Versailles Palace

Château de Versailles and its picturesque Gardens are the perfect frames for a romantic day. But if you want to do something really special for your loved one, a rowboat ride along the Grand Canal (13€, minimum half an hour) will be something difficult to forget. After visiting the impressive Château de Versailles, explore Versailles Gardens and Fountains from another point of view, from the water. We are sure that a romantic rowboat ride at Château de Versailles will blow her away.

There is no possibility to book rowboat rides in advance. The hire point is located on the banks of the Grand Canal near Little Venice.

OUR TIPS: if you want to visit also the Palace, we strongly recommend to buy a Versailles Palace and Gardens skip the line ticket online in advance, the lines to visit Versailles Palace are insane (and not romantic at all!).

Night at Opera Garnier

Opera Garnier in Paris

Perhaps it’s about its incredible architecture and rich decoration. Perhaps it’s about Chagall’s colorful ceiling evoking the transformative power and beauty of art. Or perhaps, we all still have Julia Roberts-Pretty Woman in mind awed by the beauty of opera music. The thing is that one night at Opera Garnier in Paris, with the right music program, is a great way to start a romantic night in Paris. Book your opera tickets well in advance.

OUR TIP: dress Chic. If you don’t know what to wear, the quintessential Little Black Dress always saved many ladies’ lives (thanks, Coco Chanel!). More inspiration and lots of useful tips in our favorite Parisian Chic guide

A Night Stroll along the Seine

Seine River in Paris

The Seine River is one of the most romantic places in Paris, especially at sunset when the city lights up its monuments and bridges. That’s why many locals in Paris choose the Seine River’s banks in Paris 1 and Paris 4 for a romantic walk or a picnic under the stars. If you prefer the second, remember that picnicking in Paris is an art where nothing is left to chance. A special picnic menu and a nice bottle of wine or champagne while dangling your legs off the banks of the Seine can be the beginning of a memorable night.

The Louvre at Night

Romantic Louvre Paris

Looking for romantic things to do in Paris in winter, when it is very cold outside? Visiting the Louvre can be one of the most romantic things to do in Paris, especially at night when the Louvre Palace and the pyramids are beautifully illuminated. Enter the Louvre when the sun goes down and contemplate its masterpieces in peace, without the crowds. If you want to make your visit even more romantic, check Louvre’s themed trail “Mighty Aphrodite, mythical love stories” (1hr 30min) where “love” is the main subject. The Louvre proposes night visits on Wednesday and Friday, until 9.45 pm.

OUR TIP: check out how to get the most out of the Louvre in only 2 hours!

Say “I love you” in three different languages

Wall of Love Paris

Head to Montmartre in the 18th Arrondissement of Paris for an original declaration of love. Amongst the most romantic things to do in the bohemian neighborhood of Montmartre, there is the visit to the Wall of Love at Square Jean Rictus. This huge mural near Place des Abbesses reproduces 311 times the words “I love you” in 250 different languages, including all the common languages and other rare or forgotten dialects like navajo, bambara or esperanto. You could, for example, choose three languages different than yours and surprise your other half with an original and polyglot love declaration. Perhaps, you can practice the pronunciation beforehand with the voice option of google translator. Here’re some examples:

  • T’estimo, in Catalan
  • Ti amo, in Italian
  • Ich liebe dich, in German

New! Take a selfie in front of Le Coeur de Paris at Porte de Clignancourt

heart of paris

Paris has a new beating heart! Le Coeur de Paris is a beautiful sculpture by Joana Vasconcelos located at Porte de Clignancourt, just in front of the exit of the Parisian Metro. This huge sculpture inaugurated on Saint Valentine’s day 2019 is made of 3.800 shiny azulejos (Portuguese little tiles) hand-painted by Portuguese craftsmen. The inhabitants and associations of this world-neighborhood asked the artist for a universal symbol which could resonate with everybody and voilà! a huge turning heart spreading love everywhere in the neighborhood.

If you are in the corner don’t hesitate to pay a visit to Paris’ Beating Heart and take a selfie with your other half.

If you are planning a romantic getaway to Paris, probably you don’t want to sleep in any hotel. If the hotels in Paris with Eiffel Tower views are not your thing, here’s a selection of romantic hotels in Paris to finish your days in style. Remember that the right hotel in Paris can be as memorable as the city itself.

So many great suggestions! I’m such a romantic, so the rowboat idea is definitely my favorite. I had no idea you could even do that!

This is a very fun, unique guide to Paris. I couldn’t help but giggle about the visit to Victor Noir’s tomb’s magical powers. That’s too funny! Thanks for sharing a one-of-a-kind guide!

These are some unique things to do. I always wanted to see Versailles and the whole cruise thing definitely adds a punch to the visit. The cemetery thing is also a fun thing to do… Did not know about those myths though. Cheers

I do recall Paris as quite romantic. The first time I visited, I was presented with a posy of lily of the valley flowers by a complete stranger! I’d love to enjoy a night picnic by the Seine, or cocktails with a view. Paris is gorgeous at night.

I missed Versailles while on my last trip and I hope to see this on my next one!! Your pictures are amazing, and it’s a shame that I didn’t come across this post, I missed so many spots. I’ve never an opera and would love to see one in Paris <3

I’m not a big lover of cocktails but that roof terrace looks lovely. I’d be happy having the oyster and wine up there! 😀

I went to Paris and didn’t do any of these, which makes me really want to come back now! I had no idea you could rowboat out by Chateau de Versailles.

I love the idea of a vintage car tour of Paris. What a clever idea. While I’m not likely to take a romantic vacation anytime soon, this is a fantastic guide for if that situation changes.

Oh the vintage car can also be fun, not only romantic. So take it from a cool perspective 😉

Great list. I visited Le Chateau de Versailles in 2012, and didn’t know you could take a rowboat. Now that I’m married, this would be a fun one.
