So, when Travelon offered us the chance to review four of their best theft-proof bags for travel, we were eager to see just how good these bags really were. It was not only great getting the opportunity to review four completely different safe travel bags, but it was also good to have the opinion of four different people all with different individual needs from a travel bag.
What were the travel safe bags we reviewed? Well, here is a brief overview:
- Valérie received the Anti-Theft Classic Small E/WCrossbody Bag in the color black. This is one of Travelon’s classic bags designed to be an everyday theft-proof shoulder bag for keeping your essentials safe.
- Elisa received the Anti-theft Classic Essential Messenger Bag in purple, which is a similar size to the classic anti-theft cross body travel bag Valérie received but with a slightly different shape. Once again, this bag is designed to keep your essentials safe while traveling.
- Norbert received the Anti-Theft Heritage Backpack in the color pewter. This is a good theft-proof backpack for a day of sightseeing or even as your personal item for airplane travel.
- Cédric also received a backpack to review but he received the Anti-theft Active Daypack in black. As the name suggests, this daypack has a sportier look to it, but it’s also the perfect size for an anti-theft daypack while you’re out sightseeing or as your bag for airplane travel.

Valérie and her Travelon Anti-theft Purse
Travelon’s Anti-Theft Classic Crossbody bag is a good size, designed to easily fit everything you need for a long day of sightseeing. The theft-proof purse is 10.5 x 8.5 x 2.5 inches and will comfortably accommodate your mobile, passport, hotel room keys and more. You can even fit in an iPad or tablet and a camera.
Like all Travelon shoulder bags for travel, this bag has a range of built-in security features including slash-resistant mesh body panels, slash-resistant shoulder straps, lockable straps and compartments and RFID blocking pockets. It’s also water-resistant so great for keeping your valuables safe during a light shower or accidental spillage.
This Travelon travel shoulder bag comes in a range of colors including black, blue, tan and maroon.
This anti-theft crossbody travel bag features one main spacious compartment which has interior RFID blocking card and passport slots, an open-top pocket, a zippered wall pocket and a tethered key clip with LED light. The outside of the bag has both a front and back zippered pocket.
In her bag, Valérie comfortably carries her passport, house keys, and cards. In the main pocket, she carries her mobile, purse, a reusable water bottle, a reusable shopping bag, a small bock notes, sunglasses, some snacks and with room for more. Or for times she goes out to a night club, she can make it more compact by just taking the essentials with her.
Valérie found this to be the perfect bag for her lifestyle. She is a bit bohème, enjoying wandering the streets of Montmartre and stopping to enjoy a hot coffee in a cute Parisian café or relax in a park with her favorite book. She also loves going to the cinema, eating out in a typical Parisian bistro, or exploring with Elisa the latest trendy rooftop bar at night for a cocktail or two. Valérie has found the anti-theft purse to be the perfect small and stylish bag for her essential personal items while doing these kinds of activities.

Elisa and her Travelon Anti-Theft Crossbody Bag
The Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Essential Messenger Bag is very similar to Valérie’s bag but with a slightly narrower and longer shape. It also has a longer strap length as it’s designed to sit lower on the body as it’s a messenger style bag as opposed to a purse style. However overall with dimensions of 9.75 x 10 x 2.5 inches, the bag is a similar size to shoulder bag and can accommodate the same number of items.
These theft-proof travel bags feature one main spacious compartment which has interior RFID blocking card and passport slots and an LED light. On the outside of the bag, there is a rear pocket to keep loose items handy and a front zippered pocket.

Elisa had been searching for a good size shoulder bag that could fit in with her lifestyle. She likes arts and history and enjoys spending time at the various museums in Paris as well as checking out all the arts and photography exhibitions in town. She has fun preparing the WiP walking tours and treasure hunts, but she also likes to walk for pleasure, just to enjoy the city. Elisa loves taking photographs and so never leaves home without her camera and her red Moleskine to take some notes.

Norbert and his Travelon Anti-Theft Backpack
The Travelon Anti-Theft Heritage Backpack is a great looking secure backpack, just perfect for exploring cities. The backpack is made from a cotton-polyester blend and has a gender-neutral look so perfect for both men and women looking for the best anti-theft travel backpack.
With dimensions of 13 x 17.5 x 6 inches, this secure travel backpack is a great size for anyone wanting to carry around more items than will fit in a shoulder bag. This anti-theft backpack features a large spacious main compartment which includes a padded sleeve able to accommodate a laptop of up to 15.6 inches. The exterior has two additional zippered pockets which include two open top wall pockets, an organized zippered compartment which has zippered RFID blocking pockets, and a tethered key clip with LED light.

Norbert was pleased to participate in this anti-theft backpack review as he had been looking for a spacious backpack for a while. Norbert loves to explore Paris by bike, so he was particularly looking for a backpack that was comfortable to wear while riding. On weekends, Norbert is very active and loves to visit the small towns around Paris by train or other regions of France on a road trip.
Like Elisa, Norbert is also into photography and needed something he could put his big Cannon Reflex in while he traveled both by train and bike. Plus, he also needed something that could accommodate all his other personal items when he travels out of Paris like his mobile, wallet, keys, thermos, tablet, lunch box and snacks. Norbert has found the Heritage backpack perfect for carrying all of his things, he also says its rather comfortable to wear too – even while riding his bike.
Overall, Nobert is more than happy with the Travelon backpack and recommends it for anyone looking for the best anti-theft backpack for women or men.

Cédric and his Travelon Secure Travel Backpack
Cédric was provided with the Travelon Anti-Theft Active Daypack. This backpack has a completely different look to the previous backpack – whereas the previous backpack had a more modern and stylish look, this one has a more traditional sporty look to it.
Although the two backpacks for travel look completely different, they are similar in size with this backpack having dimensions of 19.5 x 11.5 x 5.5 inches. So this backpack is much wider but is a touch shorter in length.
The Travelon Active Daypack has a large roomy main compartment that features a padded and fleece pocket to accommodate a laptop of up to 15.6 inches. It also has an additional full length front zippered compartment which includes an organizer compartment with an RFID blocking pocket, card slots and a tethered key clip with LED light.
As with the previous Travelon backpack, this backpack has a range of built-in security features including slash-resistant mesh body panels, slash-resistant shoulder straps, lockable straps and compartments, and RFID blocking pockets. It’s also water-resistant so great for keeping your valuables safe during a light shower or accidental spillage.
The backpack also has padded, adjustable shoulder straps, a top grab handle and a mesh side expansion pocket for a water bottle. A few additional things that this backpack has that the Heritage doesn’t is adjustable sternum straps, and an air mesh padded back panel and air mesh backpack straps to wick away moisture.

Cédric is loving this backpack! As the geeky one of the group, he probably appreciates all the built-in security features of the Travelon bags more than others. Plus, Cédric travels a lot – he’s always moving from home to the office, from the office to the gym and from the gym to the bar with his friends and he always carries his completer with him. So, having a backpack with all the full anti-theft features to safely transport his computer provides him with some peace of mind. Particularly given he mostly uses the Paris Metro for his travels.
