How to Dress Like a Parisian Man
Fashion in Paris is first about chic and then about comfort – You don’t see many Parisians wearing something ill-fitting or unflattering just because it’s comfortable!
Parisian men are equally preoccupied with their looks as women but the effortlessly cool vibe that surrounds the Parisian style for men might seem hard to crack for male visitors.
When traveling to Paris you’ll need to make a little investment into some good quality clothes. Also, make sure your clothes fit nicely and don’t sag. Parisians love their clothes to fit a little slimmer, almost tight. Therefore, if you want to dress like a Parisian man, don’t wear baggy clothes!
The Parisian man likes to find his own style, without showing off. He wears neutral colors, easy to combine and without advertising or flags. The Parisian man does not wear ostentatious watches, logos, or big accessories. Baseball caps are a big NO, even in the summer.
Finally, the Parisian male loves to layer up, even if we admit that in the spring and summer there are lesser opportunities: shirt and light sweater on top, for example, will work for you. Just make sure that every layer can be seen, this is the principle of layering!

Men’s Paris Packing List Spring
What do men wear in Paris in Spring? In Spring, the weather is unpredictable with sunny, warm days but also chilly days. It also rains quite often in the spring which means that you need to be ready for anything!
If you are traveling to Paris in the Spring, layering is essential so you can put on or put off a layer depending on the weather. Don’t leave the hotel without a light sweater (pale colors are the trend this year in Paris) or a light jacket and consider also a light scarf and a foldable umbrella for the rainy days in Paris.
Jeans are still good in Paris in the spring.

Men’s Paris Packing List Summer
What to wear in Paris in Summer? Paris in the Summer is hot! If you are visiting Paris in the summer leave your jeans at home and replace them with a pair of slim-fit chinos.
Compared to jeans, chinos are lightweight and easy to pack, plus they can be dressed up with a button-down and a pair of loafers or dressed down with a t-shirt or polo and a pair of stylish sneakers. 7/8 chinos (showing the ankles) are the last trend in Paris.
Shorts in Paris
Is it OK to wear shorts in Paris? The answer is yes IF your knees are visible or just slightly covered if standing still. Shorts that go below the knees are a big faux pas in Paris and it should be avoided. Shorts too short are not nice to see either.
Like with the pair of chinos, shorts can be dressed up with a button-down and a pair of loafers or dressed down with a nice t-shirt and a pair of stylish sneakers.

Shoes to Wear in Paris
Shoe choices depend on what you will be doing in Paris. If you are looking for comfortable walking shoes for Paris, then go for a stylish pair of sneakers. For more casual trips, look for loafers or espadrilles in the summer.
If you wear sneakers, use low cut socks that match well with your shoes: brown, black or even white, depending on the color of your sneakers.
Loafers and espadrilles go without socks. If you really need to wear socks with your loafers, look for no show socks.

Best Tips to Crack the Parisian Style
Quality over Quantity
The Parisian wardrobe has fewer clothes but at a higher quality. For your outfits to wear in Paris choose a few quality staples, learn to combine them and add your personal touch through cool accessories.
Use neutral colors
How to travel light and look good? Use neutral colors. Parisian men do not like flashy colors. And neutral colors are also easier to combine, especially if you don’t have many clothes. With colors such as black, gray, brown or navy it is impossible to be wrong in Paris. However, this year light sweaters in pale colors (pink, blue, yellow) are very trendy among the Parisian men.
Clothes in Paris are a little slimmer everywhere than what Americans are used to. When it comes to shirts, blazers, or even t-shirts, the tailoring has to be perfect. Also, the slim-fit jean is an omnipresent sight on the Parisian street.
Hats in Paris
Parisian men don’t wear hats in Paris but at the same time, they don’t spend the full day sightseeing or waiting in line under the sun. We are sure that many Parisian men have a Panama hat at home but they only use it when they are doing the tourists out of Paris.
Both Panama hats and baseball caps will immediately point you out as a tourist in Paris but at least Panama hats are in general considered as stylish. If you cannot live without a baseball cap, choose at least a monochrome model that matches your outfit.
A touch of color
Despite the wide use of neutral colors in the Paris outfits, many Parisians like to add a touch of color through the accessories. Accessories like scarves, sunglasses or backpacks, are very helpful in this sense and you just need to wander around Paris to see the latest trends.
Trends are just trends, not rules to follow at any price. Slim fit clothes are great for tall, thin men but if this is not your case you will look much better with other models. It is good to read about fashion in Paris and how to dress like a Parisian man but it is more important to be yourself and to wear things that make you feel comfortable and good.
