When To Plan a Parisian Honeymoon

Bouquet of Tulips - Paris

There really is never a bad time to honeymoon in Paris! However, if you really want to make the most of the beautiful parks and gorgeous streets without crowds, then the ultimate time to visit Paris is in Spring or Fall.

Summer is an absolutely stunning time for a honeymoon trip to Paris; however, it can be so crowded and far more expensive too. Winter is lovely for getting all cozy with your new husband, and there are some great accommodation deals too. However, keep in mind the weather is often bad and the days are far shorter.

So if you want the perfect honeymoon in Paris, visit in Spring (particularly March and April) or Fall (particularly September to around mid-November).

How Long Should you Stay in Paris for your Honeymoon?

Stairs of Montmartre - Paris

One week in Paris is the perfect amount of time for taking in Paris’ special flavor, adding a couple of day trips.

It won’t do to rush anything during your honeymoon. Everything needs to be designed for a lot of quality time opportunities for a newlywed couple. One week will give you exactly that: enough time to explore, enough time to experience, and enough time to relax.

If you have more time available, you can extend your Parisian honeymoon to the French Riviera in Southern France. Nice, the capital, is a beautiful place to be for a honeymoon and an excellent base to explore some of the best beaches in the French Riviera and other romantic places like Éze or Menton.

This 5-star hotel has its own fitness center, spa, hammam, and a private lounge and bar. Lastly, here are a few more tips to ensure you have a fantastic honeymoon in Paris.

1. Book your Private Transportation from Paris Airport to the Hotel

Arriving in Paris for your honeymoon, you really don’t want to worry about getting from the airport to your hotel, so it is recommended that you book private transfers in advance.

There is a range of different operators that will provide private transfers; however, we recommend Welcome Pickups, a reliable and top-rated private transfer service. Your driver will wait for you outside of the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name plus a bottle of water and a map of the city.

2. Waiting in Line Isn’t Romantic: Book Tickets Ahead of Time Where you Can

This is your honeymoon after all, and so you don’t want to be wasting time in long lines simply to purchase tickets.  For some of the more popular Paris attractions, these lines can be huge and take precious time out of your day.

Below are the Paris main attractions. It is recommended you purchase advance tickets for and I’ve added links to my favorite trusty providers for your convenience.

3. Leave Some Time Unscheduled

There are so many wonderful romantic things to do in Paris, and so you may be forgiven for planning a full schedule every day. However, this is your honeymoon and so it is recommended that you have plenty of unscheduled time in your itinerary. You will need some downtime after all the stress of your wedding preparations, so you certainly don’t want to be waking super early each day.

Besides, some of the best things to do in Paris simply can’t be planned, such as those hidden gems you stumble upon as you wander around this fabulous romantic city. Leave time in your schedule for those wonderful unexpected moments.

4. Use an Anti-theft Day Bag or Backpack

Unfortunately, while Paris is known for the City of Love, it also tends to have a reputation for theft.  However, this is easily avoidable by taking an anti-theft travel bag or a theft-proof backpack with you. Anti-theft bags will make it nearly impossible for thieves to access your valuables and provide you with some peace of mind.

5. Buy Travel Insurance

Of course, it is difficult to plan for every possible situation that may arise during your Paris honeymoon.  As such, it is essential to have great travel insurance to protect you in the unlikely event that things do go wrong.

When it comes to good travel insurance for Paris, we recommend SafetyWing, an excellent travel + medical insurance covering people from all over the world while outside their home country. Its Nomad Insurance (also available for short trips) now also covers Covid-19 for new policies. You can read more about it in our article on the best travel insurance for Paris.
